Sea + Soil South Florida invites you to our August Garden Party!
Join us at the Susan Whelchel Community Garden in Boca Raton for our next Garden Party of the summer. We will be hosting a Garden Party each month from June-September as an opportunity to connect with the Earth and eachother + help steward our beautiful coastal community.
This month's Garden Party will feature a nature-based art workshop + somatic practice. We’ll ground into the garden before exploring its plants, shadows, textures, and found materials through drawing, painting, journaling, and free creative expression. Bring a journal or sketchbook and we'll provide the rest. No experience is necessary!
There is no set end-time for this event. We welcome everyone to enjoy dusk at the garden and leave as it begins to get dark after our closing circle.
This is an invitation to the coastal community to cultivate safety, biodiversity, and reciprocity in and out of the water, through grassroots reparations for people + planet. BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, neurodivergent, differently-abled folks of ALL ages always welcome and encouraged to beneit from our free, community nature therapy offerings!
What To Bring: a sketchbook or journal, water, any snacks you'd like to share, an open mind and deep resepct for the land, the sea, and each other!

*Suggested Donation is $10-$50. All proceeds help continue our work helping to maintain the Susan Whelchel Community Garden + build our restoration programs in South Florida!
*No gardening experience required!
*All ages and abilities welcome! Small children are welcome with the supervision of adults.
*We love dogs, but for safety purposes, it is best to leave them at home :'(
*A Note on Allyship: When attending a Sea + Soil event, allyship to BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities is essential to cultivating safe and inclusive spaces for all. Our definition of allyship involves actively listening and prioritizing understanding of the cultures, histories, and systemic barriers of these communities that shape their unique realities. We advocate for leveraging whatever privilege we have to confront discrimination and microaggressions to stand in solidarity with marginalized individuals. We respect pronouns and identities, and refrain from appropriating or trivializing cultures that are not our own.
