About Us
“As we work to heal the Earth, the Earth heals us.”
-Robin Wall KimmererThrough soil building, native habitat restoration, and shared learning, we leverage community connection to build pathways for healing and collective wellness.
Our Pillars
Surfing is Indigenous.
First Peoples around the world rode waves as a spiritual practice, and we honor that legacy by cultivating relationship with place, guided by reciprocity, caring for living ecosystems, and accountability to the communities who hold these waters.
OUR STORY
Sea + Soil began in 2019 as a few surfers growing food together in a backyard garden. What followed became a grassroots community built through shared learning and collective care, donating thousands of pounds of fresh food to local, underserved families. Over time, that work expanded into community gardening, native habitat restoration, ecological education, and partnerships that support Indigenous food sovereignty and local regenerative agriculture.
Today, we carry this work forward through our community programs and through Sea + Soil Impact Travel, expressed in our Regenerative Retreats – immersive surf experiences shaped in relationship with place, grounded in reciprocity, and guided by community-led stewardship along the coastlines that shape surf culture.

Andrea Poveda
Co-Founder | Director of Impact
Andrea is a Mexican–Cuban American community builder, impact strategist and ocean advocate who has spent her career bringing people together in service of land, water, and community. Her work lives at the intersection of environmental stewardship, cultural exchange, and partnership—helping connect global organizations, local leaders, and grassroots initiatives working to care for the places that sustain us.
The ocean has shaped Andrea’s life since childhood. Growing up between cultures also shaped how she understands place and belonging, and how easily the stories of coastlines and communities can be told by outsiders rather than the people who live there. That awareness became a compass for her work: creating pathways for collaboration that center local knowledge, stewardship, and long-term relationship with place.
Over the past decade, Andrea has helped lead environmental and social impact initiatives across the nonprofit world, mission-driven companies, and professional surfing—bringing together athletes, global organizations, and grassroots partners to support conservation and community-led initiatives in coastal regions around the world. Her work has earned recognition from organizations like the United Nations, the Anthem Awards, Green Sports Alliance, and Leaders in Sport.
Sea + Soil is a natural continuation of that path. As Co-Founder and Director of Impact, Andrea works to cultivate experiences and partnerships rooted in reciprocity, supporting community-led stewardship while helping people reconnect with the ocean, the land, and each other in more intentional ways.
